3. Choose between universal or dedicated tow bar wiring options
On older vehicles, you can install both universal aftermarket wiring and dedicated particular wiring. However some later vehicles only allow dedicated specific wiring to be installed.
Universal wiring is typically less expensive but it is not always the best option. For example, universal wiring may not activate built-in safety features. All future new cars will require dedicated, specific wiring.
